First of all, to find out the reason why Hill Sprints work so extremely well, we have to dissect it and look at what type of exercise it actually is - or what "exercise category" it fits into.

And that category is called HIIT, which stands for High Intensity Interval Training.

Then you walk down, and the walk is the actual interval.

When you get to the bottom, catch your breath for a bit, but don't get too lazy - your total non-running time can't be longer than two minutes.

After that you just run up again, rinse and repeat.
